When promoting your business or brand, having the right images is essential for getting your message across. But it’s not just about having the right images - you also need to optimise them for the channel you’re going through. Social media sites have different requirements or recommended sizes that you need to accommodate to achieve the best result on elements like profile pictures and cover photos.

If you don’t accommodate these guidelines, your images might risk loss in quality or unfortunate cropping. Let’s face it, we’ve all seen one or two awkwardly cropped photos that makes us cringe.

You may have noticed that when you share links with your friends and followers on sites like Facebook, Twitter and Google+, a preview image usually loads with the link. To ensure the best image from an article is pulled up as the preview, there are certain tricks you can do. To start with, there are simple steps like making sure images are the right size and format, or you can go more advanced and make decisions through the code, depending on which social media and how advanced you are willing to go.

Here it is, the summary you need...

We have collected the essential sizes for five social media sites for you:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+
  • Instagram
  • StumbleUpon

This spreadsheet will continuously be kept updated as changes and updates happen from the specific social media sites (each site is in a separate tab). Share this post with your followers and even link to us if you want to say thanks 🙂
