Movember 2010 (now over)

Ben is growing a Mo!

Why? What is it about?

My mum died of Cancer in mid-September. I remember vividly the first time she told me she had Cancer in July 2008. Mostly I remember the fear in her voice and the need for family and care.

The type of Cancer my Mum had was a GIST, a cancer that forms in the intestine and usually isn't diagnosed (as in her case) until it spreads elsewhere - when of course, it is almost certainly too late to treat.

The Goals

I have two goals here...

1. Raise some money for prostate cancer because too many men think getting checked isn't for them. Wake up!

2. Raise some awareness of Cancer in general, especially the type of cancer that can form deep inside your body without you knowing. Listen to your body and get checked if you suspect anything. Get a second opinion if you want, it is your body.

Help

There are FOUR ways you can help.

1. Give money

The Movember cause is well established and even if you already give generously to charity please consider giving even just a few dollars.

Click here to MAKE A DONATION. This link will take you to my "mospace" page on the movember website (in a new window).

2. Facebook

If you're on Facebook, come and "Like Us" for updates about Ben's Mo 🙂

Click to visit www.facebook.com/mattersolutions (opens in new window).

Then click the LIKE button at the top.

It'd be awesome if you could "Suggest to friends" - The more people we get following us on Facebook the faster we can spread the word.

Also you can just like this page here

3. Join Movember

It's probably too late for guys to begin growing now BUT anyone can register, Men or Women to give support.

Sign up with Movember or Click here to join my team.

My progress

movember-collage

1st of November

Starting out clean shaven...

6th of November

Taking shape...Emma (my eldest daughter) wanted to get in the photo too as she likes my moustache.

8th of November

Making progress... Again Emma was keen to get in the picture and I'm finding it isn't easy to shave around but its making progress.

10th of November

33% Mo. It's getting a bit out of balance. Maybe I need to do some Google searches on how to shave a moustache...

11th of November

Multi-coloured Mo. I've got a lot of different colours in my Mo. Ginger, grey, white, brown. How strange!

I had a go at tidying up the balance. Seems to have worked. This is harder than just normal shaving every day. Help make it worth the effort and send me a donation, even $5 would really help.

15th of November

50% Mo. Two little monkeys wanted to get in the photo today.

Half way there and $235 raised so far. Please give your donation to Movember, or even just hit LIKE above.

18th of November

It is getting very itchy now. Not long to go now.

24th of November

Please give to this excellent cause. Even a small amount like $5 or $10 would be awesome.

29th of November

It's turning into a Monster

1st of December

It's all over now... (for this year). Within 10 minutes of waking up I'd already shaved this whole thing off.
